The 5S Japanese’s Way Of Life For Manufacturing Practices

Five S or 5S is adopted as a house-keeping system for most of the manufacturings or offices. It is a system set-up by Japanese to manage an organization’s workplace. 5S is a workplace organization method that uses a list of five Japanese words: seiri, seiton, seisō, seiketsu, and shitsuke.

There are five pillars of 5S which in English:

1. Sort
2. Set in order
3. Shine
4. Standardize
5. Sustain
